Lucia Treggiari, Director of Activities

Lucia brings a varied background to her position. She has a B.S. degree in Allied Health from the University of Massachusetts, Boston and an A.A. degree from Bay State College in Physical Therapy Assisting. In addition, she has been a Certified Aerobics Instructor for more than 20 years. She received her Activity Director Certification through MASCAP in 1993 and has been working as an Activities Director for 15 years, three of which have been at Marina Bay.

In her job, Lucia gets to plan everything from picnic lunches at Nantasket Beach, to dining out at residents’ favorite restaurants, to cruises on Boston Harbor or catching an afternoon Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Lucia describes her job as maintaining the social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of each and every Marina Bay resident. She is focused not only on maintaining the residents’ quality of life, but even improving it for those who were often home alone prior to admission. “My days are extremely busy, but I always go home with a smile in my face, knowing that I put a smile on someone else’s,” she beams.

Kathy Faherty, R.N., B.S.N., Director of Staff Development

Kathy started in health care as a C.N.A. then worked as an L.P.N. for 15 years. In 1988 she received an R.N. from Quincy College and then a B.S.N. degree from Curry College. In 1995 she became Board Certified in Gerontology. Kathy has been part of the management team at Marina Bay for seven years as Director of Staff Development. Currently, she is also the Program Manager for a grant that Marina Bay received to help support staff in career development and English as a Second Language. “Geriatrics and education have been my passion for most of my nursing career,“ she says. “Staff development allows me the opportunity to combine nursing, geriatrics and education to make a difference”

David Goulart, Director of Food Services

A citizen of both Brazil and the United States, David has worked in numerous restaurant and health care facilities since arriving here 28 years ago. A Certified Food Service Director known as “Dr. Delicious,” he has been in the long-term care field for almost two decades and at Marina Bay for more than three years. He says, “I enjoy getting up every day and coming to Marina Bay to make my residents’ lives a bit more ‘flavorish’ and delectable.”

Kevin Lavimodiere, Director of Laundry and Housekeeping

With a degree in Management and Marketing from Johnson and Wales University, Kevin first worked for the Marriott and Sheraton hotel chains before coming, 15 years ago, to the facility now known as Marina Bay.

John Gravlin, Director of Maintenance

John has been at Marina Bay for a little over five years. After high school in Quincy, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and has accumulated more than 20 years experience in facilities management. “I really find my job here satisfying,” he reveals, “as there are so many different aspects to my role and so many residents that I get to meet and help in different ways.”

Karen Jacobson, Director of Admissions

Growing up in New Orleans, Karen was drawn to the area of geriatric healthcare; she felt is would be satisfying to get to know and help people as they age. Karen focused her college education in the area of Social Work in the nursing home setting. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Social Work from LSU, Karen started working for Gordon Healthcare in September 1980 as the Admissions and Social Work Director at Neponset Hall and Ashmont Manor. “From the day I started working for this company,” she says, “I learned from the top that how we care for and treat our patients and residents is always the main focus, no matter what job you hold.”
